The goal season is upon us. I don’t know how about you, but I am already starting to get messages on social media reminding me about next year’s ambitions.
Part of me gets a bit stressed out. I mean, do I really have to do EVEN more or “punch the year in the face” to feel good about myself?
Yet another part of me welcomes an opportunity to be honest about my trajectory … am I really doing my best or just settling for the comfortable?
Having said that, I never felt regret whenever I improved my relationship with God. So much so, I did some google searching and found this verse:
The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing – Psalm 34:10
My friends, if you find yourself struggling when it come to goals, get back to the basics. Go back to the only person who can fulfill all of your desires. Seek His wisdom first, before you end up unknowingly pursuing someone else’s goals.
My goal … before writing out any goals … is to take time in prayer. Only after I feel like I prayed enough, will I put something down on paper.
This way, I know I’ll be doing my best to prevent the mind from overpowering my heart.
What is your goal setting process? How can you bring more God into it?
Don’t know how to get started? We tend to be very good at solving problems with our minds. However, when our romantic relationships suffer, we don’t feel fulfilled at work, or don’t have quality friends … it typically has very little to do with logic. It’s driven by a locked up heart.
